If you’ve had relationships, then you have relationship stories and probably more than a few of them are bad. It can be hard to get over unpleasant events and rough relationships and, even when things are going well, it’s hard to shake off old assumptions and habitual ways of thinking. Still, most us have the kind of baggage that we can learn to get over. Some people have a worse time of it though. Some relationships leave you with more lasting, physical ailments. It’s hard to begin something new when you have to begin by explaining all your past relationships. It’s a lot easier you can talk to someone with similar relationships stories. If you have an STD, then STD dating sites are a good place to meet people who will be accepting and understanding of your situation.
I can’t really imagine how hard it must be to go out in the dating world and try to find someone to share your life with when, whenever things start to get intimate, you have to tell them about the risks of getting close to you. It’s hard enough to pass the test date without that added difficulty.
In a way, it’s a lot to ask of a new partner to expect them to be comfortable with the fact that any physical intimacy comes with the specific risk of contracting an STD. It’s definitely possible to make things safe, but it’s a big psychological barrier. However, I imagine that the biggest problem is that many people really tend to stigmatize those with STDs. It’s not reasonable, but you’ll still find people that think the contracting a disease is pretty much getting ones comeuppance for bad decisions and loose morals.
Perhaps it’s true that if you cut yourself off from the world you can keep yourself safe, but that doesn’t mean, by any stretch, that having an STD should be considered telling of someone’s character. It’s important to remember that lots of people have bad luck and find themselves in bad situations. So, it’s a good thing that there are STD positive dating sites that can help people move forward and make good, meaningful, intimate connections.
