If you ever needed a reason to use to try use dating personals, I’ve got one for you. To be fair, there is really no reason why you wouldn’t want to use them. You can meet all kinds of people from all over the world, be as picky as you like and still find people that can make you smile. That said, this latest revelation has convinced me that I should really keep all my dating online.

A lot of problems are caused by poor communication and online dating can be a really good way to avoid any mix-ups. Some people find online dating a little impersonal and it’s true that it can be at first, but maybe you’ve heard the old saying about how it’s easier to confide in strangers. It’s also easier to tell strangers exactly what it is you want from them without feeling all the anxiety that comes with revealing yourself to someone with whom you’re face to face.

If you can get all those things you’re shy about saying out of the way and you still want to get more personal, then there will really be nothing at all stopping you once decide to meet the next sexy cutie who you think might be the one for you.

That said, I’m avoiding what I really wanted to talk about today. The other kind of communication mix-up you can avoid are the ones that involve your friends. It doesn’t matter how close a group of friends might be, a romance gone wrong can really break people apart.

I went by a friend’s party on the weekend and met this really beautiful girl. We talked a lot, laughed a lot and I quickly got the feeling there was something starting between us. Sounds like a good night out right? It was until I noticed my friend watching us. I think I stepped on his toes a bit. I had no idea he had feelings for her and I’m not about to lose one of my oldest friends over a woman with whom I spent all of three hours.

I really didn’t do anything wrong, but I feel like a bit of a jerk and I think it’ll be a while before I can smooth things over with my buddy. From now on, I’m sticking with meeting people online and safely out of my circle of friends. There is a lot that can go wrong with a romance on the best of days and I’d rather keep my friends at a safe distance from the fallout.
