I was out on the town a few evenings ago - not for anything romantically inclined, but rather visiting a different City on business. Given I haven;t been there often, I decided to treat myself a little bit and head out to dinner…
It’s a strange thing, “Dinner for One”… I got the the restaurant, and although not conscious of being stared at or looking out, I became aware of the fact that I was the only person sitting at a table on my own. As if to reinforce the irony of the situation, the other guests at the other tables were all couples, or differing ages and probably differing relationship statuses, but couples all the same.
It was a very strange thing - but fortunately I was able to ensure the slight pang of discomfort, without it being obvious to the other dinners.
However, how is it that a single man will go out for dinner on his own, as I did, but a single woman is less inclined to do so? It’s a shame that a single woman, perhaps in my situation of being away from home on business, might find it more comfortable all on her own in her hotel room, rather than to go through the experience of dinner on her own. (And the possible romantic come ones that might also involve)
Isn’t life strange sometimes?
